How Taken:
The paste should be applied as soon as possible after noticing the symptoms of an aphthous ulcer and should be used four times daily, preferably following oral hygiene after breakfast, lunch, dinner, and at bedtime. Wash your hands immediately after using amlexanox paste. Keep using the medicine until the sore is healed. However, if it is not healed after 10 days, check with your doctor. Do not get any of the paste in your eyes.
Warnings Precautions:
Inform your doctor if you have ever had any unusual or allergic reaction to amlexanox. Also if you are allergic to any other substances, such as preservatives or dyes tell your health care professional. However, studies in animals have not found that it causes any birth defects or other problems. Amlexanox has not been studied in humans.
Missed Dose:
Apply it as soon as possible the paste if you miss a dose of it. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule.
Side Effects:
This medicine may cause some unwanted effects along with its needed effects. During treatment the following side effects may go away as your body adjusts to the medicine. Less serious side effects may include: burning, stinging, or pain on the part that medicine is applied; inflammation of mucous membranes; diarrhea; nausea. However, check with your doctor if any of these effects continue or are bothersome.
Storage:
Store away from heat and direct light. Keep out of the reach of children. Heat or moisture may cause the medicine to break down. Do not store in the bathroom, near the kitchen sink, or in other damp places. Do not keep outdated medicine or medicine no longer needed.
Overdose:
Seek emergency medical attention if an overdose is suspected.
