How Taken: Aciphex comes as a delayed-release (long-acting) tablet to take by mouth. The recommended adult oral dose is one Aciphex 20 mg tablet to be taken once daily for four to eight weeks, but it is sometimes taken a for longer time. When taken for ulcers, Aciphex should be taken after the morning meal. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Take each dose with a full glass of water. Do not break, chew, or split the tablets. Swallow them whole. Aciphex are specially formulated to release slowly in your organism.
Warnings Precautions: Before taking Aciphex, tell your doctor if you are taking any medications, vitamins or nutritional supplements. Be sure to mention any of the following medicines: ketoconazole (Nizoral), ampicillin (Omnipen, Principen), iron (Feosol, Mol-Iron, Fergon, Femiron, others), digoxin (Lanoxin, Lanoxicaps), or cyclosporine (Sandimmune, Neoral). Your doctor may need to change the doses of your medications during your treatment if you are taking any of the medicines listed above and monitor you carefully for side effects. Drugs other than those listed above may also interact with Aciphex. You have to talk to your doctor and pharmacist before starting to take any other prescriptions.
Missed Dose: Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose of this medication unless your doctor directs otherwise.
Side Effects: Aciphex has rare serious side effects. You should stop taking Aciphex and seek emergency medical attention if you have an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of your throat; swelling of your lips, tongue, or face; or hives) to Aciphex. Less serious side effects from Aciphex are also uncommon. Continue to take Aciphex and talk to your doctor if you experience: insomnia or nervousness; headache; upset stomach or diarrhea; or a rash or itching of taking Aciphex. Other side effects than those listed above may also occur. Call your doctor if you have any unusual problems while taking Aciphex.
Storage: Keep Aciphex in the container it came in, tightly closed, and out of the reach of children. Store Aciphex at room temperature (between 59°F and 86°F) and away from excess heat and moisture. Throw away any medication that is outdated or no longer needed.
Overdose: There are no known symptoms of overdose of an Aciphex. Seek emergency medical attention.
More Information: While taking Aciphex there are no restrictions on food, beverages, or activity unless otherwise directed by your doctor. Your symptoms may improve before your condition is fully treated.
Do not stop taking Aciphex even if you begin to feel better.
